Old Script Finder added to all servers

post time June 4th, 2009 member Dan

We’ve just added ‘Old Script Finder’ to all cPanel servers.

Old Script finder scans your hosting account in search of out of date scripts and alerts you of newer versions.

Out of date scripts can leave your account open to attack and running the latest software is always recommended. Old Script finder makes it easier for you to view the latest version of any scripts running under your account.

Let us know what you think.

Installatron added to all cPanel servers!

post time May 16th, 2009 member Dan

We have now added Installatron to all cPanel servers.

Once again, you spoke and we listened. A number of clients commented on how slow Fantastico are at releasing updates which often left your websites running out of date software.

Installatron is a much more up-to-date one click installer with an excellent development and support team behind it. This will also allow us to create custom installers for software that isn’t already added. We’ve already created a WHMCS auto-installer allowing you to install the popular billing software within minutes.

Let us know what you think, do you prefer Installatron over Fantastico?

Guide: Installing BFD (Brute Force Detection)

post time April 5th, 2009 member Dan

BFD is a shell script which parses security logs and detects authentication failures. It is a brute force implementation without much complexity, and it works in conjunction with a APF (Advanced Policy-based Firewall).

## Get the latest source and untar.
# cd /usr/src/utils
# wget http://rfxnetworks.com/downloads/bfd-current.tar.gz
# tar xfz bfd-current.tar.gz
# cd bfd-*
# ./install.sh

Read the README file, and edit the configuration file located in /usr/local/bfd/conf.bfd.
Find ALERT=”0″ and replace it with ALERT=”1″
Find EMAIL_USR=”root” and replace it with EMAIL_USR=”username@yourdomain.com”

Edit /usr/local/bfd/ignore.hosts file, and add your own trusted IPs. BFD uses APF and hence it orverrides allow_hosts.rules, so it is important that you add trusted IP addresses to prevent yourself from being locked out.

## Start the program.
# /usr/local/sbin/bfd -s

Reseller Hosting - Now with Clustered DNS and Free Flash Tutorials!

post time September 26th, 2008 member Dan

We’re always looking for ways to improve our service, so we’ve introduced two new features to our reseller hosting plans.

Firstly, we have enabled clustered DNS across our cPanel servers for greater reliability. A typical cPanel server works on a single standalone server scenario, with a cluster the DNS is replicated over multiple servers, so if one goes down, another will seamlessly take over.

We’re also offering free branded cPanel tutorials as part of our Enterprise reseller hosting plan. This is a series of 31 flash based tutorials, branded with your company logo at the start and finish. You can see a demo of these tutorials within our client area.

We’re always trying to be one step ahead, and new features are constantly being added to our services. We have a few other goodies that are nearing release.
